MARANELLO, Italy – Ready to begin another racing year, Ferrari chairman Luca Di Montezemolo and world champion Michael Schumacher presented the launch of the new Ferrari F-1 model F2003-GA at the company headquarters near Modena .

Predicting another successful season for the Italian Formula One team, its brand new model is named after Gianni Agnelli and already labeled as the best ever.

GA stands for Gianni Agnelli, the former Fiat chairman, and Ferrari’s largest single shareholder whom recently died.

“It will again be a fierce battle against the top car makers. But our goal is to win the world manufacturers’ and drivers’ titles,” Montezemolo said Friday, addressing the media and personalities attending the launch.

Montezemolo said 2002 was an “unrepeatable year” with Ferrari taking a fourth consecutive manufacturers’ title after winning 15 of 17 championship races and Schumacher clinching his third consecutive drivers’ title. “We are always looking ahead, never behind and we are starting the new season as if we were a team that has never won anything, a team hungry for wins,” Montezemolo said.

It was announced that Ferrari will begin the 2003 championship – the Australian GP in Adelaide on March 9 – with the old F2002 model.

The new model, which will be tested at the company circuit of Fiorano next week, was expected to make its debut during the San Marino GP at Imola – the fourth championship event – in April.

Schumacher, said the new Ferrari looked great and “let’s hope it’s also faster.”"I would be arrogant to say it’s possible to improve the 15 GP wins of last year. But I can say we will try to improve our car and beat the competition,” he said. “My goal for the new season is very simple, to win another championship.”

Ferrari’s general manager Jean Todt said new rules on the reduction of electronic help, which are to come into effect at the British GP on July 20, will force all teams to work hard in the coming weeks.

“We can’t think to win 15 GP races again this season, but we want to stay in front, and we have the men who can do it,” Todt said. “The new model has potential that is superior to the F2002.”

Schumacher and Brazilian Rubens Barrichello will again be the team’s No.1 and No 2. drivers with Luca Badoer and newly-signed Brazilian Felipe Massa as test drivers.
